Resin Casting
Resin can be fabricated into various shapes and sizes of ornaments, figures or displays – there are very few limits to the aesthetic effects that can be achieved. Our products have even incorporated functional characteristics, one in particular is a series of hands that have a strong wire core so as to allow the hands to be used as robust coat hangers.
Forming requires two generations of mould, the first or initial mould is known as the ‘master tool' and is normally made from clay – it is an exact dimensional representation of the end product. The master is then used to make the second mould (usually silicone) and this is an accurate negative of the product. Depending on the product shape/complexity, the silicone negative would be made from two or more sections in order to help with product removal.
A mix of liquefied polyester resin and catalyst hardener are poured into the mould, this is then placed in a vacuum to agitate the hardening process and so the solid part is formed.
Under strict production conditions, trained professionals then hand or spray paint the parts according to a specification and specific standard.
